The Gardens at El Paseo (el pas-ay) is a shopping center located in the affluent desert community of Palm Desert, CA. The shopping district began with just one store, The Goodier Homestead, which was opened by George W. Goodier Jr., the son of wealthy Chicagoan real estate developer George Alexander Goodier, Sr. The store prospered and over the years The Gardens at El Paseo became a luxe shopping destination as stores like Louis Vuitton, Armani, Gucci, Prada, and Tiffany & Co. opened up shop.
The district thrived and The Gardens at El Paseo became the place to shop in Palm Desert during the 1980s. The Gardens still exists today and is located on The El Paseo (el pas-ay) between Monterey Ave. and Via Entrada.

The Gardens on El Paseo is anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue and features 50 stores and restaurants including Anthropologie, Apple, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Eileen Fisher, Louis Vuitton, Mastro’s Steakhouse, Pacifica Seafood Restaurant Pottery Barn, Tiffany & Co., Tommy Bahama’s Restaurant & Bar, and
The shopping center continues to be a popular destination for tourists and locals looking to find high-end clothing, handbags, shoes, and accessories. The Gardens also features gourmet restaurants like Wilma and Frieda’s and Tommy Bahamas.
The center is also home to many upscale beauty salons where guests can get hairstyles, pedicures, and manicures. The Gardens are open daily from 10 am until 8 pm.
When visiting The Gardens at El Paseo, check out the water features, including the Japanese Garden and The French Fountain where guests can enjoy The Gardens with live music, including piano and flute, on Sundays from 11 am to 1 pm. The Gardens are also home to The Palm Desert Scene, which features local artists like Kim Abeles. The 33-foot tall piece of art is made out of solid bronze and was created by the artist in 1986 for a commission at The Gardens. The art piece is one of the most popular pieces of public art in Palm Desert and has become a gathering place for families to enjoy The Gardens during The Palm Desert Scene events on The El Paseo.
